Advocate, Writer, Strategist

Audacia (they/them) has written and delivered testimony on trans rights to the New York City Council, co-authored New York State sex work decriminalization legislation, and presented their research on anti-LGBTQ hate violence to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Their writing practice also includes fiction, and they are a Tin House Winter Workshop alumn with short stories and essays published in Necessary Fiction, Litro Magazine, Superstition Review, and Stone Canoe. Dacia currently directs the organizing and policy advocacy team at the New York City Anti-Violence Project. Previously, they led storytelling and sex worker rights campaigns as founding director of the Red Umbrella Project, launched the online communications strategy for the International Women's Health Coalition, and edited $pread magazine and its respective best-of anthology published by Feminist Press.
