My consulting sweet spot is where communications, policy, and programs converge. As a former executive director and longtime organizing and policy director, I deeply understand how these pieces fit together and I’m highly skilled at getting you out of the weeds to communicate your work in clear and concise language. If you're feeling stuck with a project that is taking too long, is too wordy, or isn't communicating your advocacy goals and programs clearly and effectivevly - I'm your person.
Report Writing and Editing
If you are underwater on a report, the first person wrote something too dense for a general audience, or you need someone to clean it up, make the language work and make it accessible - I'm your editorial janitor. I can do a mix of editing and improving the flow of existing text and looking at the data and source materials to pull solvent points that may not already appear in the project.
Grant Proposals
Too much on your plate to craft grant applications? I offer short-term grant writing, including foundations, federal, and state grants. I’ve successfully written and won $2000 first project grants for grassroots groups and five-year multi-million dollar federal grants. I can navigate clunky grant portals, hit odd character counts, and make your project sound as grantworthy as it is. I’m patient and tech savvy and I can wrangle budgets and match them to a narrative.
Communications Materials
Comms department short staffed? I can draft statements, speeches, written and verbal testimony for hearings, develop boilerplate, fact sheets, and program descriptions. I can turn your 80 page report into a two page brief, or write talking points for a new bill, and translate dense research into human digestible language.
